Parent-Child Relationship

Fostering a healthy parent-child relationship can be tricky and complicated at times. My work with children and adolescents as well as adults has allowed me to better understand the needs of each side and identify the common challenges that often lead to communication breakdown and frustration. Together we will focus on:

  • Understanding the underlying issues that lead to frustration and misunderstandings
  • Assessing the needs and concerns of the parent and child
  • Facilitating better communication and relationships
Adolescence and Early Adulthood

Adolescence and early adulthood can be a difficult period to navigate through. It is a time of self-identification where individuals do not always feel understood by the people around them. Adding the element of having been adopted into this difficult period of life brings another dynamic that can sometimes create issues of attachment and connection. These challenges can manifest themselves at any point in life and can create blocks in communication and hamper personal growth. Together, we can create a trusting therapeutic relationship where you feel safe to address your personal challenges.

Anxiety / Worry

Anxiety is a common problem that many people experience. It manifests itself in children, adolescents and adults and can create stress and frustration for the individual and the people around them. Symptoms often include fear, nervousness, and worry and can have an impact on daily life. In our work together we will:

  • Explore ways to manage your feelings of anxiety
  • Facilitate a framework of understanding for anxious moments
  • Develop coping strategies
Anger Management

Anger is a problem that can affect individuals and those close to them. Anger is often referred to as a secondary emotion because there are many other unaddressed emotions that precede anger in an individual. Underlying emotions need to be understood and addressed in order to bring about change. In our work we will explore the triggers, both conscious and unconscious, that lead to anger and develop ways to address/channel our emotions and triggers in a way that is positive and healthy.
